“The only way to get closer to truth is to expand the heart so that it will encompass all humanity and still have room for more love.” -Anaiya Sophia

Samara Concepción was my Doula during my daughter´s birth at home. Her support and teachings have gone beyond what I could have ever imagined.

I’m still digesting the experience and feel in awe of how my life has transformed since homebirthing and experiencing the presence of God like never before.

In this article, she shares with us her faith in life and in birth. I will stay in touch with the topic of being an empowered woman and how birth is a rite of passage in this Blog.

For now, lets enjoy her magic...

Life will never let you down

Changing the way we perceive and experience birth sometimes involves changing the way we relate to life. Birth has everything to do with life. Birth is the expression of life in all its radiance and complexity. It is my belief that we can turn to the intended natural unfolding of birth to better understand the purpose of life itself. Birth yearns to grow us into more embodied, more interconnected and deeper loving beings. The hormonal physiology of birth demonstrates this. However, we are led to believe that the natural design of birth is flawed, that we need external intervention to maintain its safety, that our bodies are likely to let us down, that life will abandon us when we most need its support. It seems that the dominant belief which fuels our cultural perception of birth is that we cannot trust life.

Let’s pause for a moment. I invite you to notice how this perception of birth makes you feel?

The stories we are told and tell ourselves shape our reality and experiences. I am aware that when a woman deeply embodies her inner knowing, she can find her power, confidence and wisdom within herself, without the need to rely on an outsider’s influence or authority. This woman’s potential is limitless, she moves fluidly towards manifesting what she knows in her heart is true.

If you grew up being told that birth is intended to be an ecstatic experience beyond description, and that your body will follow an intricate and deeply intelligent orchestration of birth hormones to ensure that both you and your baby are moving beautifully in sync with one another towards the highest experience of love a woman will ever feel, how would you relate to birth today? Would your perception of life be different in any way? How would you prepare for such an event?

You are perfect just as you are.

With love and support,

Samara Concepción
