Secret Sources of Nourishment

“What makes the desert beautiful,” said the little prince,“is that somewhere it hides a well.” —Antoine De Saint-Exupery

Around you, now. As you read me, as you sit or stand where you are... look around to see what might nourish your moment. In this precise instant, as I write, Im nourishing my inner world as I pour my insights out to yours... maybe a text message to somebody you love could be the dose of love that you can give now?, maybe a fresh glass of filtered water and drink it knowing your quenching your inner thirst?, maybe buying flower for your home knowing your nourishing your cultivating beauty around you?, maybe choose to dance your favourite song as you move any stagnating energy?, maybe journaling your thoughts in a paper for 5 minutes to let your mind declutter, maybe rest in childs pose and stay there for 5 long deep breaths as you witness your body breathing and replenishing. Find your wells. They are hiding everywhere.

John O’Donohue, inspiring poet writes in Anam Cara: “…in the Celtic world, wells were sacred places. Wells were seen as threshold places between the deeper, dark, unknown subterranean world and the outer world of light and form … Wells were revered as special apertures through which divinity flowed forth.”

We find ourselves in many moments of our lives, resisting what our journey is offering. It could be that we are stuck in a job we don´t like, or that we live in a place that does not inspire us, or that we are dealing with some kind of illness, or that we are simply lost in what we should do with our next-steps in one or all of the areas of our lives. I myself resist the idea of rushing all day to get things done in this hectic city where everyone lives isolated lives. I resist the idea of all the faceless people gazing to the void in each train ride, I resist the fact that I could do so much for my business if i could only not need to cook for hours or spend hours doing housework... whatever it might me for you, there is so much we find ourselves resisting.

The next step is then, how to shift from resistance to readiness. From resisting to being ready to find the hidden wells. The Irish writer James Stephens, said, “The only barrier is our readiness.”

We will end up remaining in a prison as much as we keep resisting; left outside the rich world of the soul, simply because we are not allowing life to enrich our journey. We end up focusing so much on formulating and constructing the next step that we sabotage the organic expansion of life threading through us. Our life journey is one that is discovered as we go, one that will fulfil us more than anything we could ever build with our small minds. When we try to invent a formula to our own journey, we don't allow the readiness of Spirit to weave through, we become our own main obstacle.

Our task is to refine our presence with what surrounds us. There is so much blessing and beauty near us that is destined for us. And yet it cannot enter our lives because we are not ready to receive it, we keep resisting it with our own complains and dramas. The handle is on the inside of the door; only we can open it. Our lack of readiness is often caused by fear, lack of trust, by the control-freak personality that wants to construct it all.

Are we truly ready to open to turn the handle that is on the inside of the door and step out into a depth and curiosity and wonder for life to offer us new possibilities when there appears to be none? are we ready to allow life to invite us for prospects we never knew were waiting?

What would life look like if the hidden wells our path has for us where shown only when we allow, when we switch off the resistance mindset, when we soften into the primal wisdom of Spirit to lead the way.

I still forget, and come back to resisting and then remember again and allow. This is the flow of life, we forget, we remember. The splendid art of recognition and remembrance. I hope these words remind us to be ready, to allow, to let Spirit move through us and show us how to walk in beauty and strength, standing in our own two feet and in full presence.

I´m lighting a scented candle that smells of fig and sandalwood. Her scent, her flame is a hidden well for me now.

May you be ready to allow this perfect timing unfold as you find your wells of nourishment.
