My grandmother, Woman of Wisdom.
My grandmother, a woman of great wisdom, of immense personality, power, strength and charisma. She left a lineage of great example for the women of next generations that come after her. Overtime, after her death, I keep coming back to her remembrance with such love and such grace. A woman of dignity, full of elegance, she knew how to live fully with very little and wherever she went she brought this huge golden aura of real glory and laughter. She lived on her own for many years in a little house up in the mountains in a town near Medellin (Colombia), would wake up every morning to prayer, feed her cats and dogs and go for long walks in the woods on her own. She loved music and would sing out loud to her boleros, and would dance till the end of her days. She had a special magic with animals and would love them all. A woman of deep faith and inner stamina she was. I truly adore her. Blanca Margarita Amanda del Consuelo, was her name. And indeed all those names made her even more special. I miss her every day of my life. I long to see her and remember the thousand times she would ask me how to cook tofu and then tried to remember again, but never did.
Blanca Margarita Amanda del Consuelo, you are a real woman. I honour you.
This quote from Clarissa Pinkola, reminds me of her:
“I hope you will go out and let stories, that is life, happen to you, and that you will work with these stories... water them with your blood and tears and your laughter till they bloom, till you yourself burst into bloom.” ― Clarissa Pinkola Estés, Women Who Run With the Wolves: Myths and Stories of the Wild Woman Archetype
